Lynwood Avocado Nursery Limited
Lynwood Avocado Nursery operates from Whangarei, and supplies avocado trees to clients throughout New Zealand and internationally.
Lynwood was incorporated in 1961 and has been involved in horticulture since 1983. Lynwood is offering this scholarship by way of this application form.
The Lynwood Avocado Nursery Scholarship is to provide invaluable mentoring and financial support. The scholarship is awarded to an outstanding Northland student, with a particular interest in horticulture, undertaking horticultural related tertiary studies.
There is one scholarship on offer to the value of $3000 for the 2021 academic year.
This application form for the Lynwood Avocado Nursery Scholarship applies to the 2021 calendar year. The scholarship amount will be paid by 31 March 2021. Applicants may re-apply for the scholarship in future years to assist with their study.
1. Applicants must be registered in a full-time course, undertaking horticultural related tertiary studies.
2. Applicants must be New Zealand Citizens or Permanent Residents with their family home in the boundaries of Northland.
3. Applicants need to have NCEA Level 3 or better.
4. There is no age limit but preference will be given to first time students.
The Selection Team will be looking for:
- Commitment and academic merit;
- Potential contribution to horticulture;
- Past achievements;
- Individual leadership, qualities and skills;
- Agreement to contribute to the development and promotion of New Zealand horticultural sector;
- Referees’ comments.
The decision of the Selection Team is final and no correspondence or re-assessment will be entered into.
The interview date is 16th February 2021 and the interviews will be held at Lynwood, 701 State Highway 14, Whangarei. There will be an interview panel of up to four people.
Disclosure of Results
If you are successful in receiving the Lynwood Avocado Nursey Scholarship by completing this application form you agree to your academic results being released to Lynwood who are very keen to follow your progress.

The information requested in this application form will be used solely for the purposes of assessing your application for the award for which you are applying. Personal information contained in this application will only be made available to members of the selection panel for this award. The panel will use references obtained from third parties designated by yourself in assessing your application. The panel undertakes to store your application in a secure place in the event that you are successful in gaining an award, and to destroy your application to preserve its confidentiality in the event that you are unsuccessful in gaining an award.
Personal references from the persons you have named are obtained on the strict understanding that they are confidential and you may not have access to those references without the written authorisation of the referee.
By making this application you agree to the Selection Panel contacting your referees and your course supervisor for the purposes of assessing your application.
